Our Mission

The ICPA is a membership organisation dedicated to accountants in practice. Our sole focus is to provide our members with all the support and tools needed to make their practice as successful as possible. We are able to do because we totally understand what it means to in Practice in the UK and we have set about providing an array of members benefits for free or heavily discounted.

Our Purpose

The founders of the ICPA were all accountants in practice from varying institutes and they understood on a personal level the help and support that was needed. They also wanted to elevate the importance of the Accountant in Practice to those in authority and to bring innovation and recognition of small practising accountants to bear. With this in mind, the ICPA was created and has been at the forefront of supporting accountants in practice ever since.

The ICPA was formed by a group of accountants in practice with a shared mutual dissatisfaction at the lack of support available to small practicing accountants, The founders seen in this original picture decided that the membership organisation would be practice specific, with the needs and wants of the small practitioner in mind.

The founders set out to obtain a range of benefits that would help and support all accountants in practice. The first benefit was a quality magazine with Professional Indemnity insurance added shortly after along with free commercial software. Over the years, the list of benefits grew and continues to do so, with over 40 member benefits at present.

The ICPA sought to influence lawmakers, resulting in ICPA members involvement in HMRC working together groups throughout the UK. The ICPA are represented on the HMRC Agents Strategy group and regularly respond to consultations that affect the work small accountants do.

Evidently, there were many accountants that felt the same way as the founders and membership continues to grow despite the founders themselves moving on to well earned retirement.
